Iron Brigade Badge
The corps badge which the Iron Brigade would have worn was the red lozenge. The 1st Corps, Army of the Potomac wore the round lozenge. 1st Division was red, 2d Division was blue and 3rd Division was white.
The second badge is the Iron Brigade badge post war which was for the veterans group (what is missing is the 149th PA VOLS who became members of the brigade after it was shredded at Gettysburg. How either one looks anything like the Screaming Eagle....well, its beyond me.

As a proud ex-member of the Deuce o' Deuce while I mostly served in Delta Company I was also a member of Bravo.
The Question: Bravo Company of the Second Bn 502nd Inf. 1st Bde 101st Abn is the only unit in the 101st achieve this distinction. Can you name it? No fair if you were a member of the Deuce O' Deuce. |

I was actually in the 2/508 of the 82nd when the Bn achieved the all EIB/CIB goal. The Bn Commander told us we were the first ever to do this in peacetime. Of course many units would have been all CIB in wartime Edit: And no although in 1982 this company went thru as a company and most of its personel passed, it is not the Air Assault Badge. It is an achievement that happened over a period of time. It was achieved while the unit was deployed away from Ft. Campbell Ky its home base since it was reactivated in the late 50s. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is something that was achieved by personnel in B-Co 2/502 that they achieved more times than any other Company in the 101st. This is an individual achievement. They did this between June of 1965 and July of 1972. It is a military achievement. |
