You got the Frenchish name right; hint hint...but Andre was the Brit soldier nabbed soon after Arnold's treason was discovered and later executed as a spy.

Yes, and he was one day away from pulling of the kidnapping when his "adopted" British unit was ordered on board ship for deployment. He later "deserted" and made his way back to Virginia where he was returned to civilian life.

that was a president of the u.s. earned because he (or at least claimed) to be of all possible ethnics while campaigning so that one newspaper called him "Old Fifty-seven Varieties" (or somethin allong the line).

But can't remember the name..

Well without the clue I had to guess from any of the 43 presidents you had so far, so yeah it did help *g*
