Battle of Leyte Gulf was the last, but was it the last of the GREAT carrier battles? Blues is probably right, but I'll stick with Leyte just for drill.

Your turn Tarek.
True.

However, technically, Canada is still part of the British Commenwealth, so they are not 100% indepdent, although they can pretty much do whatever they want.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

We are 100% independent. The commonwealth is just a fancy word for a bunch of countries who once made up the british empire. Other commonwealth nations include Australia and India for example, just two among 53 other countries.

Battle of the Phillipine sea?

The Battle of Leyte Gulf did happen after, however the Japanese only used there carriers as decoys as they had no airplanes and crewman left.

Thanks for clearing that up with me.

I just watched a military channel progam 20th Century Battlefields about the Falkan Islands.

What is their status? Are they independent from Britain? Part of the commonwealth?
