King Leonidas: Madness?? This Is Sparta!!!
Stelios: It is an honor to die at your side. King Leonidas: It is an honor to have lived at yours. Persian: A thousand nations of the Persian empire descend upon you. Our arrows will blot out the sun! Stelios: Then we will fight in the shade. [as arrows rain down on the Spartans, Astinos begins laughing hysterically] Stelios: What the hell are you laughing at? Astinos: Well, you had to say it! Stelios: What? Astinos: "Fight in the shade"! [both laugh] |

Hitler knows that he will have to break us in this island or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fall, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour!” Winston Churchill |

I believe you meant Rear Admiral David Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864 He said "Damn The Torpedos" "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells victory."- Col. Crazy Horse in Acopaplyse Now. Actually, the character was LTC Bill Kilgore

"I am sick and tired of war. Its glory is all moonshine.
It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell." General of the Army William Tecumseh Sherman “My centre is giving way, my right is in retreat; situation excellent. I am attacking.” Marshal Ferdinand Foch "Peccavi" General Sir Charles Napier “They've got us surrounded again, the poor bastards.” Creighton W. Abrams, Jr "Hell hath no fury like a non-combatant" Charles Edward Montague "If there is ever another war in Europe, it will come out of some damned silly thing in the Balkans" Otto von Bismarck |

Two of my favorites:
"Men are warriors. Women are recreation for warriors. All else is folly." Either von Clauswitz or some SP4 at DLI "EOD. If you see me running, try to keep up." On the t-shirt of a bomb disposal technician friend of mine. KM
