The British are descended from ALL of the people listed in the poll. We are a mongrel race like all others.
Once upon a time there were the Celts. Then along came the Romans and intermarried with the Celts. Then came the Anglo-Saxons who inter-married with the Celts and the Celtic-British (Romano-Celts), then along came the Normans who intermarried with the Anglo-Saxons and the Anglo-Romano-Celts. In the 1600s the Huguenots came over from France and no doubt they intermarried with the natives and, more recently, from the 1960s along came people flooded in from the Empire - the Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, West Indians, etc - who themselves became British. So the British are a variety of many different races. |
