Roman Empire, no contest. Lasted the longest, had the best systematical way in organizing and converting provinces, best military for several hundred years, had the largest cultural impact for centuries.

Mongols controlled China as well was much of the area covered by the former Soviet Union. That trumps the China and Czarist Russia options at least.

The British Empire was the largest in total when it was at its peak in the late 1910s and early 1920s. But I think I'd have to say that the Mongols were the best warriors; they conquered their enemies with greater speed and ease than the British crushed theirs, from what I can tell. But then again the two countries' power existed in two very different times (the Mongols were from the middle ages, the British Empire was from the Renaissance until about the end of WW2, maybe a little after if you count that they retained control of India until '47), so it's not that easy to compare.

I think it is Roman empire. It lasted 1300 years. And when the after the fall of Western Roman empire, Byzantium continue to live 1000 years more. So I'll put those two empires as one.

Alexander, but his empire didn't last for long and Alexander himself died one of the stupidest ways so Rome is the top one.

I voted the British Empire.
No other empire comes close to the British empire which spanned over almost all the continents.
