Yep. The Corporals future wife was also an American and Mormon. Her family wanted her to marry someone else but rather give up her "true heart" she went on a mission to South Africa. The romantic fool followed her by stowing away on a ship, working his way to SA! He didn't realize it was going east from Oakland. He took the long way round, finally getting Cape Town. When he snuck ashore he asked to be taken to the nearest Alderman who grudgingly gave him train fare to the recruiting depot.

I had to laugh at his story even after my misadventure. The South Africans were convinced that we in particular and Americans in general were all crazy.

It has been beat to death--but officially:

d. Asthma (493), including reactive airway disease, exercise-induced bronchospasm or asthmatic bronchitis, reliably

following elements: substantiated history of cough, wheeze, chest tightness, and/or dyspnea that persists or recurs over
a prolonged period of time, generally more than 12 months.

Air Force doesn't require perfect vision, to my knowledge they would if you were an aspiring pilot... Though as a member of the National Guard (AGR) with a couple 12 month deployments under my belt, I'm only familiar with Army Regulations and National Guard Regulations.

Airforce doesn't require perfect vision of anyone but pilots. Not sure why people think this. Neither require you swim well just enough to pass the test once. The asvab of 50 is a problem, Is that overall or just on one section and with which version of the scoring old or new?
