    Recruitment ,, or lack of

Is it a wonder there is a lack of manpower when the useless bunch we have in Govt are seen not to be supplying the correct equipment and the lack of it , the way this bunch perform i can envisage National service being implemented again , and that IMO will be a bad thing

Despite improvements in recruitment and retention in recent years, the three services need 4,460 extra men and women between them to hit their target levels.

Latest manpower statistics from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) revealed the combined strength of the Army, Naval Service and Royal Air Force to be 174,010 - only 97.5% of the 178,470 required.

However, that was up from the 96.8% last summer and the MoD stressed fewer people were leaving and more joining the forces.

It said the number of trained personnel who had left in the past year was down by 15.7%, while recruitment was up by 8.7%, year-on-year.

The Army had the biggest shortfall in manpower, of 1,960, although it also has by far the biggest staff of the three services.

The RAF was 1,620 down on its target level and the Navy was 880 short, according to the figures, which described the position on July 1.

Defence minister Kevan Jones said growing numbers of people wanted to make a career in the forces.

"The Armed Forces offer a challenging and financially rewarding career," he said.

Especially with no equipment , very challenging indeed , wanker

"Each and every recruit will help to work as part of the international community to support the Afghan people as they build a better future.

HAH , Well join the Afghan army then cos the UK cant win there and neither will any other army

    the article is bollocks.

the Army - couldn't care less about crabs or rum 'n buggery, is so full that that only 'A's and high 'B's are being accepted ('C's and even 'D's could get in two years ago), only a few infantry regiments are accepting any candidates at all for January intake most of the infantry and corps (RSigs, Artillery, Eng and RAC) are full until April. applications for reinlistment (soldiers who left with with four years service and no dicip issues) have gone from 250 a month to over 750 a month.

now, there are some issues at senior captain, junior sergeant and senior corporal level in certain regiments/corps, gaps caused by crap recruiting, but i've not yet seen the course that takes you from Sandhurst to snr Capt in one go, so there's little point bitching about that problem, it'll just have to work its way through the structure.
before criticizing someone, walk a mile in their shoes.................... then when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
