There is a great difference. Nonetheless, one can lead to the other, which every servicemember should keep in mind when off duty; their brothers (and sisters) may suffer for their sins.

Also, have another form of ID on hand.

Agreed..Over reaction is an understatement at best..They have offered an apology and in fact had to call in the Police because of all the telephone threats they were getting from members of the public. This action is not to be condoned of course

The receptionist had made a mistake, it added.
I bet the poor receptionist is gonna get the sack, just for following a stupid order...

Absolutely..It would be against the grain for Management to except responsibility when things go wrong

My first reaction was the same as all other veterans or current military. I could feel my anger welling up inside.

    But then...
I remember what my stance has been on private business. If it is a private business, the owner should be able to run it however he or she sees fit.

So, if the owners of that hotel wish to have such a policy and they receive no governement/public funding, so be it.

But rest assured no one I know would go there.

Not even an option the day a serving member of the forces has to show an ID to hide he is in fact serving his country, is the day we have finally lost all reason!

Another classic example of "finding a scapegoat" if indeed she was following Hotel policy.

Hence Dave's point earlier is not Miltary and Armed forces one and the same, in this context

Should raw analytical data ever be passed to policy makers?

Its a plot to demonize America. See, the hotel is owned by a company called AMERICAN AMUSEMENT. <<< The name makes it even worse.

I just want to know of the circumstance of the event to corelate to our conditions.

If I am on my own on leave, and if I am a war veteran and wounded and all that, I can't ask for special privileges in India. The hotels and restaurants have the licence to reject customers they don't deem fit for their establishment and they display a sign - rights of admission reserved.

When our unfiormed soldiers are on a condolensce visit, the whole trip is organised by the military and so there is no flaps.

Just because one is a soldier and veteran of wars is no criterion for admission in India.

Nonetheless, if I were to be denied admission, I would kick the manager in the teeth and then go to jail!

    Who cares!

90% of the time when I'm asked for ID I show my military ID. And every time I usually get the same response..."Thank you for your services!!" I always feel so proud for having served in the military.

I don't know how I would feel the day someone tried to take that away from me! :(

I can understand if like 10 guys try to check in. I remember having to help pay for a hole in a wall at a hotel in Edmonton because some moron decided to put his own head through it........ I had nothing to do with it and was not even in the room at the time!!

One guy with a busted hand though. Retarded.
