The Military Channel is mediocre, at best.

And as a so-called 'information' organ, that is simply not adequate.

What prompted this post was the latest piece of error-filled dreck that they just oozed onto my screen, supposedly about the Battle of the Bulge. It just ended, and I spotted about five errors, and I'm no expert.

But I DO know that the Wolfs' Lair is NOT at Obersalzburg.

How can they put themselves forward as anything like an authority - which is what they're doing by making these programs - when they can't get basic stuff RIGHT?

It's gotten bad enough to irritate me into venting.

You're watching the wrong channel man! You need to tune into Animal Planet to find out the difference between the Eagle's Nest and the Wolf's Lair

Bluesman, I've seen some great programming in the past on the History Channel (owns Military Channel), and some of their programming has taken a massive dive recently. Frankly, it's dumbed-down. I feel that alot of it is more appropriate for a 3rd grade audience. The Universe, for example... why the hell do they have to show people throwing frisbees to illustrate the effect Jupiter has on chucking asteroids around with its gravitational pull?

I keep finding more and more their programming is an insult to my intelligence.

UFOs, fortune tellers, bible code, ice road truckers... nothing terribly historical

Not to mention conspiracy theories. What's left of their history programming is mostly crap... they need to sack the guy in charge of the History Channel family.

Did you guys see my post in the climate change thread?

Climate Change is real!!!!!!!!!

I was about to yell at the TV when I heard the so-called "scientist" say just 20 nuclear missiles would kick up enough dust to block the sun for years.

Well, maybe we should study that effect and use it to cool down global warming.

My theory on the cooling trend heading into the 1970s was the atmospheric nuclear testing we had in the 50s and 60s. They cooled down the planet. After the comprehensive test ban treaty we saw the warming trend heading into early 21st century. Coincidence? I think not.

Anyone know why they put ****?

You would think there would be a million historical subjects to discuss other than bible code, global warming, conspiracy theories, fortune tellers, American food, UFOs and other ******** which ain't historical and belongs on other stations.

Their ratings must suck today.

I remember years back there used to be crap on Rome, Greece, famous conquerers, WW-2, ACW and other subjects. Today there ain't ****.

That's very true. MTV used to show something called "music video." Now it has some crap about a bunch of junior delinquents and their quests to get some.

One thing on history channel that's still worth watching is Modern Marvels. That show has history and the "how did they" factor all rolled into one.

Yeah. The music video is dead I guess - replaced with juvenile delinquents acting like morons.

On some of them it is ok.

One would think with all the historical specials they have done over the last how ever long they could just run those through loops and cover other sections of history rather than spending money on global warming, UFOs, fortune tellers and other stupid stuff.

This topic made me check it and I see something about humans dead and rising tides or some ****.

Bi-partisan support for the History channel sucking.
