Well my informing was done live with the family member that was called on the scene still present when I was working as a Paramedic. I actually preferred the physical labor I endured while in the service.

I did not think there would be
However there was also the time I had a stripper with a broken ankle that wanted me to see if her breast enhancement felt natural.

I told her that as a medical professional I could not do that, she gave me her phone number and I "examined" her off duty.

    It speaks well of you.

Two that stay with me. The first when the wife of one my men who was killed visited me in hospital. She was OK at first, then broke down sobbing and asked my wife why her husband was taken and not me. Not a lot I could say and very hard on my wife.

A few years ago I was walking home from a restaurant and a really bad accident happened almost in front of me. The paramedic, whom I knew, said the young women wasn't going to make it and asked If I would hear her last confession. I did, holding her hand till she passed. She was 23.:(

That must have been extremely difficult for you and yet knowing that you were there for her in her final moment...that she had someone by her side holding her hand...I'm sure her family was very thankful!!

Yes grief is a very delicate thing. It sounds like you are in the pastoral services that was our go to area when telling the family they had lost a loved one we asked if they wanted us to contact clergy for them.

One that sticks with me, I went to see one of my men who had been crippled, in the same explosion that I escaped from with minor injuries, in hospital shortly after I returned from the deployment. Just seeing his family there, kids and all, it just tore me up. The worst thing was that if I had been the one driving that would have been me lying in that bed, I am quite sure that was going through their minds even though nothing was said to that effect.
