Saw Bob Hope two weeks later. All hell broke loose about two weeks after that.

was awarded the BSM(V) as a Fireman 1C USN when his ship was hit by a kamikaze off the coast of Japan in WW II. Restored steam power to his ship in blacked out compartment due to a ruptured steam line.

I've expressed my admiration for your dad's story privately, but it's one of the most compelling acts of bravery that I've read and deserves saying so publically.
