Ghurkas to get pension parity with British Army
It has just been announced that the Government will decide today whether Ghurkhas who have served a pensionable career with the Army will receive a pension equitable to that of a British soldier. I personally think it is not before time as these guys do the same job as his Brit counterpart and although I believe they only serve a term of 12 years (I may be slightly out on this one) there is no reason why they should not receive pension recognition for the role they have played in the country's defence. A military pension is still not enough to survive on but it would go a long way to helping them settle in this country following completion of their service.

There are of course barriers to be crossed. I think one of them is it only effects soldiers who have left since the late 90s ,therefore the "old" squaddie still gets the vastly reduced pension. Out of sight out of mind!!

Wayne its more annoying when you read of a Scottish Minister getting over £22000 just for SENDING MAIL...lets not even go into how much it cost to upgrade the Lord Derrys chambers a couple of yrs ago with hand-made Pugin wallpaper etc
