Rusty,

The crane was sent to Panama. It's back in service now though they removed the 10-ton centerline jib boom.

Being a Naval Architect, people often have asked me why I wanted to be a tank driver when I entered the military. Hopefully the attached news clippings will be clear enough to give you an idea.

You remind me a joke: to you show a clean paper leaf and ask that there is represented? You think there anything are not present?
No, you are not right, there are represented: a polar bear on a white ice floe in a snow blizzard.

The turret looks right in proportion and position to be a Merkava. Can't see the back doors though.
As for destruction, I doubt that. It would have taken a minimum 500 lb bomb underneath to push it over the escarpment. Then that would have blown off the rear track wheels.
Obviously the gun barrel has to be replaced as it is bent at the bore evacuator. Perhaps the whole gun cradle assembly. The front side skirt needs a little straightening by a sledge hammer mechanic. The driver is probably still scheduled for inquiry after the stitches are removed from his head.
But I wouldn't call it destroyed. I've seen worse than that on M-48's and had them back in service in 3 days max (but that was at Fort Irwin that has a full tank repair facility).

I suppose Hizbu'llah also claims this other Merkava...
Training mishaps in both cases.
