Murder? Loyalty only goes so far. If you're asking if they would or could be recruited to commit a crime like say rob a bank I'd say usually no. That is unless they were already prone to robbing banks anyways.

Former soldiers of a type stick together. Sturmpioneers do. I had a former Sapper stand up in church and ask for help because he thought his family might be in danger. I put my hand on his shoulder saying I would help. When he asked why I told him because we had both been Sturmpioneers.

Before he could say anything I felt a hand on shoulder and a voice behind me said, "We too will stand with thee." I turned around and saw two brothers who allowed that they also had been Blauensages and they would not allow any harm to befall our families.

That's right I am aware, being an infantryman myself, that the regimental spirit in units that don't rotate their troops individually i.e. the combat arms have a very strong bond amongst themselves because of serving in the unit all their career span.

What I was asking is that notwithstanding this type of a bond, do the Legionnaires have that affinity that they would come to the rescue of their ex comrades to the extent of even committing murder?

I think I read it somewhere and since quite a few of you have friends in the Foreign Legion, I thought you could give more details on the authenticity of this claim.

Hey this is probably a good spot to ask this one given all the union jacks I see, so, I'm curious about the rules pertaining to foreigners in the UK Armed Forces. I know there seems to be a lot of Commonwealth citizens serving in the Crown Forces, and then of course there's the Gurkhas, so what's the requirement?

The Spanish Foreign Legion is only three years. I've heard the abysmally low pay has been corrected. Don't expect conditions to be good and the training is really tough. Prior military experience is common. I know of one company that was commanded by an American Sgt-Major, the XO was English and had been to Sandhurst and the platoon commanders were former British and South African NCOs.
I thought that the SFL does not allow foreigners anymore and that it is more of an elite infantry unit rather then a foreign legion?

if you can prove that you do not have to do national service ,and you are a memeber of the commonwealth ,and you do not have a crimminal record you can apply ,i stand corrected on this oh yes amd the ability to count to five is normally a pre requisit

The amount of foreigners allowed to enlist in the Tercio de Extranjeros is restricted by law. This past year legislation was passed increasing the percentage of foreigners allowed to serve in the Legion, IIRC from four to seven percent.

Interestingly the highest rank allowed by a legion officer is Major. Higher ranking officers are all regular army.

as long as you are in the united states legally you can join any branch of the military, there are certain top secret jobs you cannot participate in but can serve in the junky postitions such as infantryman or moving boxes and stuff.

My friend who served in Iraq wasn't a US citizen, and joined US military (Army I think) and after serving 4 years he got a citizenship. Not sure how he went through, but it definitely wasn't a hassle and serving in the military helped him big time in getting the citizenship. Maybe Army helps you since your loyal to them and stuff, etc.?? Don't know.

Getting a green card was a hassle for me, they screwed up on applications many times, or things got lost, ugh.

Fly to mexico.

You can literally walk right across the border. Everyone else does...
Yea but you can kiss your green card or citizenship goodbye without a SSN.
