I'm given to understand that the Chinese embassy had moved in the year or so before the conflict, so it wouldn't of appeared as such on street maps. secondly the reason - apparently - that the building was targeted was that significant electronic signals traffic was eminating from the building. perfectly understandable really, what with there being a war on... so you have a building noticed because of its signals traffic which doesn't appear on the maps. in war, you blow such things up. f*ck up. conspiracy theorists say it was deleberately destroyed because the Chinese were helping the Serbs and the embassy was sending intelligence gained back to China. this has two flaws: even if the Chinese were helping the Serbs that help wasn't very effective (so it didn't really matter), and secondly blowing up the embassy of a UNSC P5 member who happens to have lots of ICBM's is rather a big risk in anyone's book, the proposed benefits of such action must be very large indeed to justify taking that risk - and stopping some minor intelligence reaching the Chinese (ie: theres fecking loads of them, and they come at night to drop bombs which are very accurate) and utterly inneffective assistance reaching the Serbs - just doesn't come close.
