I love that some British consider Amercians "arrogant" yet talk themselves up as far superior every chance they get. This comes from the country that produced Bernard Montgomery, one of if not the biggest asses in military history.

I've seemed to notice that British enlisted men and junior officers tend to be ok, but once they get up around Col. they become incredibly arrogant. The same is true for the British press.

The North African campaign is full of British officers belittling American units, despite the fact that campaign is full of British failures.

I think at an inate societal level most Europeans do feel that way. I don't think it's a conscious thought, but a product of a couple hundred years of social engineering.

I won't comment about Colonels as I am related to one by marriage. I did however get awfully tired of being told that "Americans don't know their place".

I recommend a visit to http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums.html and decide for yourself.

A great site to understand the British Army psyche.

For what it's worth:

I once asked a South African (another Sgt) what he thought of the Americans he served with in the SADF. He replied "You can be trusted, you stick together and you fight dirty."

To be honest they act like arrogant ****s at times. But then most one country military forums are like that.

If we go by the British media though, the entire world is so pathetic without the British empire to run it...and boy, just look at those unschooled Americans trying to do a gentlemans job.
