The speech.
Well, I see BM already jumped in on this. I am deeply honoured by the WAB to think I'm worthy of such a forum. I still have no idea why.
There are a few things I like to do here. Since I've been introduced to the WAB, I've made friends worldwide and especially with the good Brigadier Ray who has raided my library to no end. In this regard, I would like to help the Brigadier along and keep this forum as a resource. The good Captain Shek has suggested a book review forum which I think is a great idea. Give me a few days to set that up. As with other forums I've moderated, just because I'm at the head does not mean this is my forum. It is the participants who shaped the forum. So, that being said, let's see where this take us.

Sir
Congratulations. It's a well-deserved role for you. But while I am happy that you have your own section in this forum, I feel that the rest of the forum has too many sub-sections. That's why I think your section is a good example for the whole forum to emulate. People coming to your section talk about a wide variety of topics, which is refreshing and make browsing the topics very easy. For example, while I may not have any particular interest on the War on Terror, I may still drop in and learn a few things. But the rest of the forum is too segregated. This means that some of these sub sections only has one or two replies each week - if that. Perhaps you could persuade the owners of this siite to trim down the number of sub sections so that one could easily browse through a wide range of topics in fewer sections instead of having such a bewildering array of sections. While it seems to make sense to have eg Firearms as one sub section, Land Forces as another, South Asian as yet another...etc. What in the end happen is that most of these sections become very stagnant. And anyway, these topics kinda overlap, don't they? When you talk about a Indo-Pakistan conflict, you may also be talking about the Firearms used by the respective Land Forces for example. So there is really no need to make so many separate sections. |
