Why do you wonder for peace between Turkey and Greece? What does Turkey want from Greece?

longer than you can imagine...get off from this topic we (Greeks and Turks) have nothing to fight for...we want to live in peace..so..

i may ask from moderators to closed this topic.

we (as Greek fellows and Turks) are in accordance..no one want to fight..and discuss about a war...this topic only helps to the war mongers and biaised low level think tanks...

can you please lock this topic off?

I know a lot of Greeks and Turks both in the US and in Greece and Turkey respectively. They tend to like each other.

It is easy to find hyper nationalists and prejudiced people but I think the big story is the fact that they do have a peaceful relationship.

The tensions arise from known factors, the difficulty with having a unique sea border, old minority rights agreements that are shifting from old treaty regimes to newer minority concepts, and recent military govenrments and government influence, etc.

I would say 99% of the people are interested in moving forward.

There simply won't be a war because it would also be catastrophic to both countries. Turkey has certain military advantages but it would set itself back politically and economically to the stone age (both internally and externally).

Also any war would be a 100% EU affair.

The story is there have been plenty of opportunities for crises to erupt into general war and they have not.

    All of you are ignorant

Most of you are ignorant and confused including my greek brothers.
Scenarios are 100% accurate and trust me on this one i know.

    Scenario of war,

While on the guard tower Giorgios has just been relieved by Makis for the 'german' hour from 2-4 am. As giorgos goes back to the barracks to sleep, he just received a call from the communications room to wake everyone up for an "excercise"
Slowly he goes in his socks since it is winter time to the men and wakes them up slowly..

    Meanwhile on the turkish side
Ali, has just got off the 10 meter guard tower and has got a pack of marlboro's from his greek counterpart on the border which he just traded for a porno scene from the cellphones.
Needless to say as Ali is going back to his barracks, Mehmet is on guard as was Makis on the greek side.

    now im being serious here.
At 0632 when the units are dressed and ready and shaved,*both sides* receive an announcement that there will be some excercised going on today.
Naturally both sides are conscripted soldiers they all groan and moan and ALL of them say "why cant the stupid special forces deal with it"
as they drag both their lazy asses to eat. each force finished their breakfast of tea, cookies and bread.

    Greeks report for morning duties
    Turks report for morning duties

GREEKS: 1st BARRACKS TEAM LEADERS READY!! SECOND SQUAD
TURKS: 1st BARRACKS TEAM LEADERS READY!! SECOND SQUAD

    Maki,aris, giorgios, panagiotis
    mehmet, ali, shimal,hussam,

ALL ARE BEING SENT TO THE FOOD PREPERATIONS
meanwhile back at general staff of turkish and greek headquarters
    war has been declared
as the day progresses, the soldiers can see officers running around like chickens whit their heads cut off and saying "stupid war mongers as usual"

finally at 1046 the greek soldier has time for his frappe in the middle of winter, as he opens up his marlboro and sits down with his frappe sugar and milk
    in turkey....
Mehmet at the same time just finished his morning routine and is drinking turkish coffee with sugar and just opened up a pack of marlboro's

    please continue to follow me
as each one lights up their cigarette and switch on the television in their respective "soldiers leasure rooms" and put their feet on the pingpong table, shout at the younger conscripts to clean up the floor. they notice that greek friggates and turkish gunships are surrounding each other.
Each one then quicly changes the chanell and roles over and sleeps

    in the end
    .....

ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE WE BOTH HAVE THE SAME FIGHTING SPIRIT! ITS NOT EASY TO TAKE OVER ANOTHER COUNTRY
VIETNAM AND IRAQ NOW ARE GOOD EXAMPLES
the resistance faced by a small ragtag army of geurillas is making a super power run for its money..

now greece isnt a superpower..but turkey does definately have a more powerfull army
this doesnt mean that either one will walk through the other.
in the end war is stupid, each country should look at the real enemies,,,their own politicians who line their pockets on working men and women..and NO im not a communist
    Peace brothers
I met amazing and funny guys on the border with turkey, as they did with me..of course we both have seperate culture and history. but as soldiers and young men, belive me the last thing you want is war.

    peace.!

Actually, it is a very large ragtag guerrilla army. It always was in every war.

Not Turkey! Why does my turkey always have to go to war with the grease in the deep fryer in my local McDonalds?

Moving along, should the world be worried about this war?
I have no idea what I'm doing. Honestly!

I doubt the only war you will see between these two for the foreseeable future will be done at football matches when the game is over.

Again i said a rag tag guerilla army is in iraq and look whats happening. Greece has a professional and a heirarchy. as does turkey, so to take over another country in this day and age and administer. is very difficult, you will have problems in the first 24 hours if turkey and greece decide to go to war.

I think this topic is sufficiently old and irrelevant enough to warrant it being closed.
