American empire is now at the stage when it must rethink itself or lose its global dominance over the next two decades.... And engaging Russia is one of the biggest mistakes it can make to bring its decline closer.

Look how much resources are being wasted over engaging Russia today... and why?!?!? Russia can not really pose any serious threat to USA, if we put aside a dooms day scenario of nuclear idiotizm.

But isn´t the Russia relatively down in the list of American priorities (and, somehow i feel current Rus. is bit offended by this, not being taken seriously)

if you substitute US with Rus., this sentence exactly explains why most of Rus. neighbours are knocking behind Western institutions doors.

Now, US has no business whatsoever in Ukraine, baltic states or georgia (Which is needed to assault Iran). It only irritates the Russians.

What special rights has Russia in these countries? NONE! What business has Rus. in my country that US has not? NONE!

Politics is always dirty but compromise is needed. maybe in 50 years when mccain type of people die out (hopefully earlier with some help) things might be different.
Im all for total cooperation and mutual respect between USA and Russia. Us needs to get off the power trip and start building a healthy relationship and do as they preach.
Again, substitute McCain with Putin/Ivanov, US with Russia and you have have exactly what Rus. neighbours want

dont just talk. walk the walk. too many broken promises, double standards etc.
Why does Russia treat other countries different than the treatment he wishes for himself ?

To them its not a double standard, and as m21 said its really not. Russia has always had an imperial outlook. They might try and couch it in terms of buffer zones, economic interests, fear of attack etc but its an imperial outlook. The Ukraine, the Baltic, Poland they all know this. What the western Europeans don't seem to get, is that Europe either hangs together or good sized chunks of it will hang together.

be that as it may, you can't really fault Russia for this (I do anyway), Russia will put Russia's interest ahead of anyone else. It might make for uneasy neighbors but its good policy. America benefits from having 1 friendly neighbor and 1 at least not openly hostile one. Neither of which has enemies on its borders. Russia is smack dab in the middle of a whole lot of countries across two continents. each of those fish some big, some small are pursuing thier interests as well so its a highly competitive environment.

On all sides of Russia there are nations with historic grudges vs Russia and who are individually and collectively more productive and have a more stable population (exception- China) while Russia floats on oil and gas and not much else. A low birth rate, shoddy quality, low productivity, corruption and other issues at much larger than normal levels.
