Thread: Singapore vs. Malaysia

The first thing is that even if Singapore wins the victory could be Pyhrric. Say hypothetically they take Johor and a line of control is established. The fallout would be anti-Chinese pogroms (during/or post facto) through Malaysia and Indonesia, and the expulsion of those people into Singapore. Ergo what happened with Israel, the Arabs expelled all the Jews, confiscating all their property in the process most of the time.

The dark side of this scenario is if line of control is established and the conflict is ongoing there could just be a wholesale slaughter to recompense the national psyche for territorial losses.

Second, even low tech anti-air support is deadly. The anti air missiles the Malaysians have will have eventually hit something, and if they ever wise up to buy any Russian systems that will be enough to wipe out close air support after a while. They have Igla manpads but not the new ones. A dozen BUK or TorM1 systems in a jungle/mountainous terrain would be game changing. But at this point my guess is Malaysia would roll over and suffer tremendously IF there was aggression.

I doubt they will ever go to war the relationship seems to be fairly flexible. Yes Malaysia could go into crazy nationalist mode but so far I don't see it, generally a military buildup is necessary for that type of lean.

They might scrap the racist policies in the future but will believe it when i see it.
