I would rather be around someone that has smoked some weed than someone liquored up. People get really nasty when they get liquored up, and their breath smells like a dead cat.

I didn't vote for Bush, and would probably never do so, but I don't think the interview was that bad if at all.

What cracks me up is the conservatives condeming the liberals for behavior they both engage in. This is called hypocrisy in my book. Yes. I know liberals are hypocrites as well. As an american, nothing makes me prouder than watching the republicans and the democrats, lie, cheat, and steal, as they fight each other like a couple of five year olds in the sandbox. Each blaming the other for the nations ills.
I could care less who tried pot and who didn't. Are our lives really so small that we exist only to examine, nit pick, and dig up dirt on other peoples lives? We should all spend more time with our own lives and worry less about what other people did decades ago.

To Veni Vidi Vici,
When the religious forum opens I would like to pick your brain on the subject of the catholic church and the break away "heretic" religions thing.

Hey, I hadn't read Johnny Rambo's posts but I did just now.

The man's a lunatic I reckon.

Only a 3 days ban? Heavens, I would have done something else. Cyberspace deems otherwise.

Pretending to be a man of the cloth or nearabouts and then talking humbug and near blaspheming.

And he give Moral lectures to Julie about standing up to what is right while he bends low for....... well, OK, a three days ban.

A total punk. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

EVERY christian until the great Schism was a Catholic and reported to the Holy See in Rome.
No, there were five patriarchs, one each in Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem. They were all more or less equal in authority, each governing in their respective domains.

Rome was not the center of the Christian world in the early medieval period. After the fall of the Roman Empire, it was reduced to a village filled with grand old ruins, with its only claim to glory being its past as the capital of the Roman Empire. The east had far more Christians than the church in Rome did, with the whole of Egypt, Asia Minor, and the Levant, all very populous and rich territories. The Balkans and portions of Italy even fell under the sway of the eastern patriarchs. The church in Rome was in fact the weakest, and could lay claim to only parts of Italy, France, and Spain in the 6th century.

Three patriarchates were reduced to puppet status after conquest by the Arabs in the 7th century (Jerusalem, Antioch, and Alexandria, in Palestine, Syria, and Egypt, respectively). In the 6th or 7th century, the Franks declared allegiance to the Roman church. This bolstered the Roman church's position. This left Rome and Constantinople as the main centers of Christianity in the world.

With the Turks beginning their conquest of the Byzantine Empire in the 11th century, the Orthodox church began to wane in influence and power. The final blow occurred in 1453, with the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans. Four centers of Christianity were conquered by Muslims, and the only one left was Rome. In this case, it was not so much that the victor got to write the history books, the survivor did, and only by default.

"The Catholic church was the only church since the time of Jesus that has not changed in what it stands for. EVERY christian until the great Schism was a Catholic and reported to the Holy See in Rome. "

Actually this statement is terribly incorrect. The Catholic church has changed quite abit. If you want to get technical ALL non Orthodox Churches are in fact heretic, including the catholic church. The Orthodox Church states it is "The Holy Catholic Apostolic Church" and is in not the same as the catholic church based in the Vatican that sort of changed, made things up, and disregarded other things as times passed.
