COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A couple fighting about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said Thursday.

On Saturday, Joseph Manzanares stormed into the Hollywood Video store where his girlfriend worked, threatened to kill her and knocked over several video displays and even a computer, Commerce City police Sgt. Joe Sandoval said.

After he ran out of the store, police were called and the 19-year-old was arrested at his home.

His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.

"They have different ideas on how the baby should be raised. Basically, she said they cannot agree on which gang the baby would 'claim,'" Sandoval said.

Manzanares was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and domestic violence. He was transported to the Adams County Detention Facility.

On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to a year of probation. The misdemeanor harassment charge was dropped.

Unfortunately, this crap seems to be becoming more and more common, kids as young as elementary school age (as earlier as this article shows) are joining gangs and I feel that in the long term we will be facing a significant rise in crime associated to these kids who basically know nothing more then the gang and committing crimes.

Im actually beginning to think that one should get a license in order to be a parent because this nonsense has to stop. Nothing we do has any impact on gangs, we can educate them all we want and we can lock them up all we want but they still reform and come back ... twice as strong

And Hollywood/ bollywood would make a movie out of this.

The Hollywood version will have mind blowing speacial effects, with a feature released titled "The making of <insewrt movie name>" which will be longer than the movie itself.

The bollywood version would have several song and dance sequences, rapidly interchanging between the tulip fields of Holland to the Taj Mahal to the Sydeney Opera House.

Wonder if he took time of from his place of work to remonstrate with his partner, or did he just take a break fom da crack house, there are times when I seriously wonder for the future of this rock we live on, anyway surely its the kids decision ???
