The headline screamed "Disappearing world: Global warming claims tropical island" informing us that for the first time an inhabited island had been deluged by the ocean, due of course to global warming. The story fails to mention that Lohachare Island disappeared 22 years ago, and that the entire region of The Sundarbans is a river delta. It also fails to mention that the disappearance of the island has been attributed to erosion rather than global warming.

I imagine most of those disappearing islands claims are due to erosion, especially islands with sandy beaches.

My local beach trucks in sand from other parts of the state to replace the ones washed away by tides. I remember seeing photos of (forgot what city) hotel resorts with sandy beaches in front of them 20 or 30 years ago, and the same hotel today with no beach in front of them. The ocean hasn't risen. The sand was washed away.

Waiting...

Disappearing islands shouldn't be that hard to find some facts on, should they?

Three islands. How hard could it be? They disappeared for feck's sake.

Or do you simply not know what you are typing about?

what part of my post do you not understand?

12 hours shifts means plenty of sleep, my own forum and another - can not be monitored in a spare 5 mins. Your question is not a priority to me. What do you do for a living? You obviously have loads of time on your hands; the amount of posts you have accumulated means you have a camp bed in the corner of the forum.

My average week is about 11 to 12 hours monday to saturday, not counting bus travel to and from work.
Very often during deadline time i have stayed all night and caught the bus home in the morning.
So i dont consider your workload all that great.
I took only about 7 mins to google those links

Oh you mean little places like Bikeman?

Sure, teensy atolls and barrier shoal islands are very temporary things. It's not suprising that they'd be extremely vulnerable to relatively small environmental shifts. I thought you were talking about real landmasses.

Still, thanks for the links.
