well my English Prof (who is from the U.S.) rated the european red lights districts, and Hamburg (St. Pauli to be exact) did come just second after Amsterdam. Haven't visited either. Though I don't know why he started to talk about it.

"Ok, so you wouldn't mind if we take Michigan, Minnesota, New York...hell even Colorado is nuts for hockey!!...
I thought that you KNEW hockey and no Wisconsin on your list? Odd. "...All those great up and coming American hockey players, can we just say that they are Canadian instead?" Can't do that. They play real football in the fall before they strap on skates. ![]()

"Wisconsin?! Isn't that a type of cheese??"
Six NCAA Division I championships for the guys and the gals have two NCAA titles and a second place in the last three years. Lot of lakes to skate on. The best speed skaters in the world often have come out of Madison, Milwaukee, and Northbrook, Illinois. We definitely know all about snow, ice, and -30F with winds at 25 mph outta the north. Can't have Wisconsin, though. Nope. Lambeau Field can't be moved. ![]() |

Yeah. I used to call it "the Alberta clipper". Anywhere from mid-december until mid-late February. Once to three times a year. 3 days to two weeks. Bright high pressure and stupid-cold. Wind would frost-bite your face in fifteen minutes if left uncovered.
Some years it was amazing. A lake would freeze overnight and three days later totally safe anywhere. Snowmobile around the lakes at 80mph and hit the bars along the shore. Great crazy fun . |
