The Brits rearranged a lot of geographic boundaries over the last few hundred years. Whats your point? As for Saudis as the enemy I don't guess I interpreted it as you. I'm sure not all Saudis are like Osama Bin Laden. Isn't he a saudi? Point is we can find the kind of extremist whacko that this thread is discussing in every country and every city of the world. I thought that was his point but I'll watch it for the fourth time and see if I get anything different.

Sorry Sniper, I couldn't get much past half way. Just one more middle aged English male whining about the world. I imagine that before he was posting complaints about Muslims he would have been down the pub with his mates whining about blacks, '*****' & the EU. If this is the front line against islamic radicalism then we have already lost. At least Jeremy Clarkson is funny.

Interesting that he complained about Muslim medical practicioners & pharmacists refusing to offer a full range of services. Christian medical practicioners, hospitals & pharmacists do precisely the same thing in reguard to contraceptives & pregnancy termination. Still, its only bad if muslims do it.

Bet he hasn't whined to his mates about that.

sorry to hear that- I usually take the time to listen to someones full opinion so I may make a fair assessment.

I've never heard of a single incident of that (in the USA anyway) please enlighten me with an example.

I think its funny though how you call him a middle aged whiney guy, hangin out at the pub, griping about this and that. A little over 230 years ago Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and few of thier friends used to do much the same thing. Then others caught the same idea and it grew into a little something called the American revolution. Franklin once said "when injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. Well I would call sharia(islamic law-forgive spelling if wrong) injustice. I remember a wonderful speach given by your countrys PM awhile back, rejecting a call by muslims wanting it integrated into Aussie law. I think he put it-enough is enough, if you don't like it leave. Kudos to him and your countrymen for taking such a stand.

Sure they don't have it all yet but then neither did your normal every day child worker during our own industrial revolution. It's called progress and bleeding hearts like you ensure they stay in the damn stone age or get used to free handouts like in Africa.......

USATODAY.com - Druggists refuse to give out pill
Quote:
Druggists refuse to give out pill
By Charisse Jones, USA TODAY
For a year, Julee Lacey stopped in a CVS pharmacy near her home in a Fort Worth suburb to get refills of her birth-control pills. Then one day last March, the pharmacist refused to fill Lacey's prescription because she did not believe in birth control.
"I was shocked," says Lacey, 33, who was not able to get her prescription until the next day and missed taking one of her pills. "Their job is not to regulate what people take or do. It's just to fill the prescription that was ordered by my physician."

Some pharmacists, however, disagree and refuse on moral grounds to fill prescriptions for contraceptives. And states from Rhode Island to Washington have proposed laws that would protect such decisions.

Mississippi enacted a sweeping statute that went into effect in July that allows health care providers, including pharmacists, to not participate in procedures that go against their conscience. South Dakota and Arkansas already had laws that protect a pharmacist's right to refuse to dispense medicines. Ten other states considered similar bills this year.

The American Pharmacists Association, with 50,000 members, has a policy that says druggists can refuse to fill prescriptions if they object on moral grounds, but they must make arrangements so a patient can still get the pills. Yet some pharmacists have refused to hand the prescription to another druggist to fill.
Pharmacists' Rights at Front Of New Debate (washingtonpost.com)

Pharmacists' Rights at Front Of New Debate
Because of Beliefs, Some Refuse To Fill Birth Control Prescriptions

Some pharmacists across the country are refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control and morning-after pills, saying that dispensing the medications violates their personal moral or religious beliefs.

CNN.com - Pharmacists fired for denying 'morning after' pill - Feb. 12, 2004

Quote:
Pharmacists fired for denying 'morning after' pill

DENTON, Texas (AP) --Eckerd Corp. has fired three pharmacists who declined to fill an emergency contraception prescription for a woman who had been raped, one of the pharmacists said.

Gene Herr said Wednesday he and two co-workers were fired January 29, six days after refusing to fill the prescription. He said his own refusal was based on religious grounds.

If you don't want to be put into a position you disagree with don't bloody take the job! This is exactly why I just quit being a travel agent to drive trucks. I do not like the feeling of ripping people off.

I didn't need to waste another 2 or 3 minutes of my life to work out that the man was a whining middle aged Brit. Did it get any better?

Gun Grape has done it for me (ta fella). What you have illustrated, however, is a somewhat depressing trend. You are able to recite chapter & verse the evils of Islam, but require a foreginer to bring to your attention abuses of power by religious zealots at home.

Indeed, having lectured me about getting someone's 'full opinion', you have demonstrated a less than full understanding of your own society. As someone who firmly believes in individual freedom I like to be aware of people who want to infringe it both at home & abroad. My personal freedom & that of others I know & care about is far more likely to be infringed by non-Muslims than by Muslims.

Heavens preserve me. You want to compare yet another anti-Islam whinge to someone opposing the British Empire. Fine. Whatever rows your boat. There are some species of delusion too surreal to be argued against.

Any legal code based on religion is a form of oppression. Beyond that Sharia is no better or worse than any other - it just depends on who enforces it & how. Since very few of those who discuss Sharia have any meaningful understanding of it, I don't really see any point in attempting a debate here. I am yet to attain my qualifications in Islamic jurisprudence, how about you?

Just one point, when was the last time you heard someone launch a campaign against observant Jews or Catholics who allow religious courts & canon law to arbitrate key issues such as marriage, divirce, property settlement etc? Yet this goes on all ove the Western World. Muslims are actualy asking for no more than that.

A little exercise: Have a look at what people were saying about Jews & Catholics in the C19th & early-mid C20th and see if you can see any similarities with the way Muslims are portrayed today.

Let me guess, you are a Churchill fan too? Deeply flawed political figures often seem more attractive to those not compelled to suffer their flaws up close.

I assume you are referring to our recently departed PM John Howard. I don't recall a specific speech, but after 10 years of putting up with him I feel I have an excuse.

Howard was a master of race baiting & stirring up division. Muslims were an easy target, but in his time he also opined against East asians, Indigenous Australians & Africans. He remained a supporter of Apartheid until its demise in the early 1990s. His government tried to refuse refugee status to East Timorese fleeing the genocidal Indonesian occupation by claiming they were legally Portugese citizens. Australia, of course, legally recognised the occupation.

You may well applaud him. I suspect history will take an altogether different view.

Hey nothing wrong with Churchill, other than being a very ego driven man. The more I've learned of him the more I like him! He certainly was needed at the time.

I like him flaws and all.
