Support closing Guantanamo by wearing Orange
JANUARY 11, 2008, is the six-year anniversary of the first arrival of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay.
On January 11, we [the ACLU] are calling on everyone opposed to torture and indefinite detention to WEAR ORANGE to symbolize their sadness and disgust with the national shame that is Guantánamo Bay. Download the CLOSE GUANTÁNAMO Toolkit now to find out how you can organize for January 11 at home, in your office, on campus, in your community, and online. American Civil Liberties Union : Close Guantánamo I'll be wearing orange because I believe in human rights." — Susan Sarandon

Orange Vomit
This just totally makes me want to vomit orange. How does wearing Orange help the war on terror? I wish we could ship the detainees to Sarandon's home but then they would be on US soil and entitled to benefits. I read we spend more on detainees than on a US soldier. I will be wearing Red, White and Blue and probably a flag pin to boot.

That's kinda ridiculous. To my knowledge, most if not all the prisoners in Guantanamo are insurgents who have worked against the US, and in some cases, have fired upon or helped in an attack in which civilians and US soldiers have been killed. I have no sympathy for that.
The Cubans aren't willing to start a war with the US. They know they'll be blown out of the ocean within days. |

According to the lease agreement, both parties must agree to end the contract.
Or the US can abandon the property. Been that way since 1934. We pay rent, approx $4000 a year. Since Castro has been in power only one of those payment checks have been cashed. |

Why doesn't a mouse kick an elephant in the shins?
1. It won't do any damage 2. The elephant won't particularly notice or care 3. It can't reach the elephant's shins 4. If the elephant is careless enough, the mouse gets squashed like a grape in a winepress |

What color do I wear if I'm all in favor of keeping terrorist ******** shut up in Guantanamo for the rest of their lives?
I'll tell the ACLU what, I'll go ahead and wear the color(s) I wear every day, forest camoflage patterned battle dress, and continue to do something real to combat terrorism. |

The man has been released but it did take a couple of years even though the caught the rocket man earlier. Most detainees from what I understand have been turned over by foreigners and not caught by Americans. While I support the effort of our militaries I disagree with torture. I don't want to stoop the my enemies level ever. Lets not forget that anyone who is tortured will tell you exactly what you want to hear just to make it stop. Keep fighting go and arrest the ******** and put them on trial or better yet just shoot them if you catch them red handed. Guantanamo is disgusting, America is better than this. |

NO country would go to war for frivolous reasons like maintaining a military base, because you're sure to lose much, much more than that in the conflict. No, greek, nations go to war to defend their sovereign RIGHTS, and if Cuba tried to attack Gitmo by force, we'd defend it. The base isn't what the fighting would be about.
