U.S.S. Olympia

Dreadnought and Rusty,

Thanks for your guidance. My U.S.S. Olympia tour is shaping up nicely. I'm boning up on her stats and history. I love the narratives from eye witnesses to her Manila Bay battle and virtual tours on this web site:
USS Olympia

A triple expansion engine was mentioned. I didn't hear about a condenser. Too much space needed? It seems like a efficient way to increase power.

Any info on where the Olympia nuts hang out for a pint after work?

More to follow and thanks again.

Hope you will enjoy. Shes quite impressive just to look upon and really gives an idea of the styling of ships in the great white fleet era.

Thanks a bunch.
Mr. L from what I understand the picture (from the open nav bridge of the focsul/bow) now adourns the mantel over the fireplace in said consulet.

It was funny because the gentlemen said Im sure the FBI has the very same picture. We still hope he enjoyed his time aboard.

My Olympia trip was a bit of a let down. I was not able to go into engineering nor was I able to tour the topdeck. *sigh* As to the purpose of this thread, I personally would tour any warship I come across. As of now, I have toured USS Alabama, USS Massachussetts, USS North Carolina, USS Yorktown, USS Bechuna, USS Lionfish, USS Nautilus, USS New Jersey, USS Olympia, USS Joeseph Kennedy, USS Jimmy Carter, USS Portsmouth, USS Constitution, USS Hiddensee (ex-East German Rudolf Eglehofer), USS Laffey, USS Clagamore, USCG Ingham, USS Barry, and..........that is all, I think... Yeah it's a hobby of mine to visit ships and learn. Anyway, if anyone has any questions about visiting any of these ships, let me know and I'll answer the best I can.
