Then I realized that from a certain angles, yes, I do see some of that "swooped back" look that was characteristic of Yamato in Alaska. Only from certain angles, though.

One of those rare color photos from the era...

Both, I think, superbly attractive ships. With greater beam, the Yamato is the more intimidating. The Alaska is more threatening. She appears as a rapier.
