When the main battery (in this case 16"/50,aged,worn etc. actually 1969) from xxxx amount of yards out puts its opening salvo within 100 yards of its target and walks right in on it is that not acceptable gunnery to you?

On 30 September 1968, USS New Jersey's 16"/50 guns were NOT worn since she had been regunned shortly before her decommissioning in 1957.

Furthermore, as already mentioned in another thread, it was calculated that ~55% of the barrel life remained at the end of USS New Jersey's deployment in Vietnam.
