While I think that the point that not as many stars are signing up to do shows in Iraq and Afghanistan, their list of artists who have gone is woefully inadequate. Here's a few more:

Toby Keith
David Letterman
Henry Rollins
Vince Vaughn
Bruce Willis
Lee Greenwood
Drew Carey
Colin Quinn

Heck, even Al Franken, who is the anti-Bush, is a big USO supporter. Not to mention WWE in Afghanistan - I think Giggs had posted an article on this a few weeks ago along with some cool pix.

EDIT: I posted the WWE article (http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/showthread.php?t=9627&highlight=WWE) , but Giggs posted the pix. I guess the UK's Independent doesn't like to watch guys flying "off the top rope" enough to report it

The entertainers that do go should be commended. USO is for the troops, not the goverment. I am not a fan of Wayne Newton, but I will tip my hat, and tophatter's too, to him for his dedication and support of the troops. As for the stars that refuse to go and support the troops, well, we should all NOT support them at the box office.

I was about read to jump on you, but then realized you left a word out - I corrected it above. I saw a post on a blog that I frequent (he's a staunch libertarian) that was attacking Al Franken a few days ago. While I think he's an absolute moron for his political rhetoric, I certainly gained a new found respect for Franken based on his USO work, even if I never found him that funny on SNL, and so I challenged the post.

I believe I had it corect the first time. I will try to use my entertainment dollars to support those that do support the troops, especially those that do the USO tour. Those entertainers that do not appreciate the sacrifice the troops are doing can starve for all I care.

Yes you did. Sorry. I thought "commended" was "comdemned" when I read it at midnight.
