    Police hold Italy terror suspect

Italian police have arrested an eighth suspect in connection with the murder of a government adviser four years ago.
A leftist rebel movement, the Red Brigades, claimed responsibility for shooting of Massimo D'Antona in 1999.

The arrest in Florence follows the detention of seven other suspects in raids across the country last week.

The Red Brigades have also admitted killing another man last year, who like Mr D'Antona, was working on controversial labour reforms.

    Breakthrough

Italian police said 44-year-old municipal employee Simone Boccacini was arrested late on Wednesday.

They said he had admitted belonging to the Red Brigades-Combatant Communist party - an offshoot of the 1980s version of the Red Brigades.

He has declared himself a "political prisoner".

The terror movement had been dormant for more than a decade after a series of attacks in the 1970s and 80s - the most notorious being the kidnap and murder of the former Prime Minister, Aldo Moro, in 1978.

Police say the breakthrough in the investigation and the raids followed the arrest earlier this year of an alleged Red Brigades member after a shoot-out on a Rome-Florence train.

The suspect, Nadia Desdemona Lioce, has been in custody since she was captured in March.
