I was reading about BMPT and its modification with active protection and by chance found this article about BAE Active Protection System.... then searched more and realized that there are many alternatives to Russian Arena E and DROZD II, which I considered a unique systems..... Although all in testing now the parallel development of these systems indicates that this direction is probably will change the RPG vs Tank balance very soon!

1) CICM of BAE (the link is above)

2) USA systems

Probably even more which I did not even heard......

In Russia the Active protection systems were incepted by DROZD later modified into DROZD II.....

1) Drozd

The most modern APS is Arena E which is now being a part of all modifications for all tanks, BMPs, BTRs, and now BMPT.... its weight is 1.3 ton... hence it is good only for vehicles with weight of more than 10 tons.....

2) Arena E

For me this sounds quite revolutionary.... it actually reduces the need for BMPT..... in fact with systems like this an assault of vehicles with RPG becomes much harder task to do!
