  • Chavez: U.S. Plans to Invade Venezuela

WASHINGTON - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Friday he has documentary evidence that the United States plans to invade his country.
Chavez, interviewed on ABC's "Nightline," said the plan is called "Balboa" and involves aircraft carriers and planes. A transcript of the interview was made available by "Nightline."
He said U.S. soldiers recently went to Curacao, an island off Venezuela's northwest coast. He described as a "lie" the official U.S. explanation that they visited Curacao for rest and recreation.
"They were doing movements. They were doing maneuvers," Chavez said, speaking through a translator.
He added: "We are coming up with the counter-Balboa plan. That is to say if the government of the United States attempts to commit the foolhardy enterprise of attacking us, it would be embarked on a 100-year war. We are prepared."
Chavez has been attending the summit of world leaders at the United Nations in New York this week. On Thursday, he denounced the U.S.-led war in Iraq and told other leaders they should consider moving the U.N. headquarters out of the United States.
To prove U.S. intentions to invade Venezuela, Chavez offered to send "Nightline" host Ted Koppel maps and other documentation.
"What I can't tell you is how we got it, to protect the sources, how we got it through military intelligence," he said.
In the event of a U.S. invasion, Chavez said the United States can "just forget" about receiving any more oil from his country.

This guy cracks me up. My favorite two quotes are
Chavez, interviewed on ABC's "Nightline," said the plan is called "Balboa" and involves aircraft carriers and planes
Brilliant strategy Senor Chavez! Aircraft carriers AND planes!
The best part is, the Marines and Army can stay home apparently.

Oh this one is brilliant! He seems to be forgetting the Bush Doctrine:

Kick Their Ass Take Their Gas

Barking mad I'm telling you. Not to mention so paranoid if you slammed a book shut you'd probably have to peel him off the ceiling....
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Venezuela? Well, I am a little bit surprised.

I actually assumed that someone at the Pentagon would discover that the evidence for WMD hidden in Iraq are correct. The only misstake was a small typo in the headline, which should have said "n" instead of "q".

And now, with this prove, the UN security council has no choice but to agree to the US need to immediately invade Iran. ;)

The more I read about Chavez the more Pat Robinson's plan appeals to me.

I saw that he has come up with a plan for training more Venezuelan doctors and sending them out into the field in South/Central America to perform cataract surgery. Its quite an impressive feat. He even offered poor people in the US that need cataract surgery come to the Venezuelan consulate, and they can be networked with Venezuelan doctors that will do the surgery for free. Its a pretty nice offer.

I met some Venezuelan medical students on rotation at my school here in Houston. I have to say that I was impressed with them. One guy was the presenter for the MSF mission that they sent to Africa. It was cool to see a young guy my age who had gone out there and made a real difference in the medical care for some people who really need it.

I don't know how Chavez would find out about a US plan to invade Venezuela, but I would believe that such a plan exists. There are continency plans to invade all kinds of countries.

Why aren't they being educated in Chavez's worker's paradise?

The difference: He thinks it's going to happen, but can't figure out how it would happen or the consequences if it did.

                      .
                      Because it's not a "student's paradise" :)

Seriously, that's what free market is all about: Venezuelans students go to US schools (and pay the fees). American gas companies get Venezuelans oil (and pay for it). You know...

Ok Bush needs to find this leak and plug it... how on Earth could he know that if America invaded we would use carriers and airplanes?

But ignore him and he will go away...

There is one redeeming factor in stupendous intelligence scoop...(don't let it get out)...such an action would also involve...armed soldiers!

They were educated in Venezuela, they were just on a rotation in the US. Its common for medical students to go on rotation to other cities or even countries.
