SHANGHAI (AFX) - China Unicom Ltd (HK 0762; NYSE CHU) said its GSM mobile phone subscribers totaled 90.47 mln at the end of July, up from 89.61 mln at the end of June.
The number of CDMA users hit 31.32 mln at the end of last month, compared with 30.92 mln a month earlier, China Unicom said in a statement.
Among its CDMA users, billed subscribers totaled 28.87 mln, while pre-paid subscribers were at 2.45 mln.
Billed GSM users totaled 45.75 mln at the end of July and 44.72 mln people signed up for its pre-paid GSM services, China Unicom said.
Compared with the figures at the end of last year, China Unicom said in the first seven months, new GSM subscribers totaled 6.20 mln and new CDMA users 3.51 mln.
The telecom operator's Internet subscribers fell to 8.29 mln at the end of July from 8.35 mln a month earlier.
China Unicom Corp, the country's second largest wireless carrier after China Mobile, also has a listed arm in Shanghai, China United Telecommunications Corp Ltd (SHA 600050).
