  • Winds avoiding Macedonia

Past week(s) we have environmental issue that most bigger cities have - smog and PM-10 particles, so like the Brits watch when will the next sunny period longer then 10 minutes occur, we hope and pray for (early) snow or at least some nice winds.

In lite of forthcoming holidays, me and my friend decided to see if it's evac time. Since we dont have chiefs and don't trust much our local meteorologists, we found this site that conveniently registers all the winds around the globe.

What we noticed after 10 days of eye-dropping:
    • Winds avoid us all the time. Since we came to no other logical explanation, we think it's safe to subscribe to a CT and blame the Greeks for it. (It's always safe to blame the Greeks over here)
    • Winds like seas. A lot.
    • There is some pattern the winds use, but there is no chance we can fully grasp it (so we took the safest approach, see #1)
    • If you start to row a boat from UK to USA, you will suffer severe sinusitis at latest as you reach Ireland.

If you can't blame the Greeks then the Serbs or at a pinch the Russians will do. its all a plot of some sort.

Now that you've mentioned it, it's weird, but all this occurred after Greek PM met Obama in August. :matrix:

We are, but it makes the situation worse due to different metabolisms and lunch times.

But as soon as he hears about it and tries to fix it, it'll get worse. ;)

He has to find us on the map first. Just saying.

Well, he did go through the US school system so that might be asking too much.

But he's the prez so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

                      Congress on the other hand....

Isn't Macedonia that one greek province? *looks confusedly at a map*

That is an awesome visualisation of the the wind in the world by the way. Is that real-time or just the dominant wind patterns?

                        edit:

a visualization of global weather conditions
                        forecast by supercomputers
                        updated every three hours
By fiddling with the url you can see the wind for different altitudes. Just change the /1000hPa/ partto any of the following values:

                        1000 hPa | ~100 m, surface conditions
                        850 hPa | ~1,500 m, planetary boundary, low
                        700 hPa | ~3,500 m, planetary boundary, high
                        500 hPa | ~5,000 m, vorticity
                        250 hPa | ~10,500 m, jet stream
                        70 hPa | ~17,500 m, stratosphere
                        10 hPa | ~26,500 m, even more stratosphere

atmospheric pressure corresponds roughly to altitude
several pressure surfaces are meteorologically interesting
note: 1 hectopascal (hPa) ≡ 1 millibar (mb)
Question answered, thought I'd share what I'd found.

It is, part of it anyway. There are two other parts, one where we are, and another in Bulgaria.

According to the website it is a "forecast by supercomputers updated every three hours"

Can Macedonia make a historical claim on both?

If you mean on the Republic of Macedonia, hardly. Tho, on the Balkans anyone can make historical claims on anyone's history it seems. Best way is if we can agree on the mutual history and move on, but politics wont let it go that way, we all have collective amnesia on certain events that don't fit current narrative.
