What could a modeler do with one of these?
    ‪ZPrinter 650‬‏ - YouTube

I know it is beyond the budget of most modelers today - but things can change.

I appears to be a viable technology for commercial prototype modeling now - and it could find applications in a well equipped hobby model workshop in the future.

This is not the first "3D Printer". Remember few years ago at Drupa (pre-press fair in Dusseldorf, biggest in Europe) I have seen some 3D modelers, but the details were not as high as those shown on the video.

      Lego 3D milling machine.

Looks like it would be fine for making masters for RTV mold.

I have watched the video without sound. Looks like Lego sells a kit to produce 3d printer? :) Can't be that, right?

Not exactly. Arthur Sacek designed the machine using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT programmable robotics system.

There is an open source 3d printer in the internet, just google reprap.

There are 2 versions, the later one is the Mendel.

However I am not fully convinced of it's accuracy and part strength.
