    Too easy even for me....

Al and Tipper Gore, married 40 years, to separate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, are separating after 40 years of marriage that included a White House run when their sunny relationship offered a counterpoint to President Bill Clinton's philandering.

According to an e-mail circulated among the couple's associates on Tuesday, the Gores said it was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration."

Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from the Gores, but declined to comment further.

The Gores were telling friends they "grew apart" after 40 years of marriage and there was no affair involved, according to two longtime close associates and family friends, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because it was a personal matter.

The associates said the Gores, over time, had carved out separate lives, with the former vice president on the road frequently. One of the associates said: "Their lives had gotten more and more separated."

Al Gore lost the 2000 presidential election to Republican George W. Bush. He has since campaigned worldwide to draw attention to climate change, which in 2007 led to a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar for the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

The Gores, who were married on May 19, 1970, at the National Cathedral in Washington, crafted an image as a happily married couple during his eight-year stint as vice president in the 1990s and a presidential candidate in 2000. The couple famously exchanged a long kiss during the 2000 Democratic presidential convention.

The image of their warm relationship stood in sharp contrast to the Clinton marriage rocked by Bill Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, a scandal that hung over Gore's own presidential campaign.

Al Gore at the time said his wife was "someone I've loved with my whole heart since the night of my high school senior prom."

In a speech to the 2004 Democratic convention, Gore said he wanted to thank "with all my heart my children and grandchildren, and especially my beloved partner in life, Tipper."

Tipper said in a 2000 campaign interview with The Associated Press that Al once gave her a Weedeater for her birthday but had learned to be more sensitive over the years and cared about what she wanted.

"He's very much a gentleman you know, with me around the house," Tipper said. "I know he's dog tired and he could be sitting down and doing something and I need something across the room, he'll get up and get it."

On Halloween, Al and Tipper Gore would dress up in costume and greet trick-or-treaters who made their way to the vice president's mansion. One year, she was dressed as a puppy and he was dressed as Underdog.

Tipper Gore was a co-founder in 1985 of the Parents Music Resource Center, which pushed for parental warning labels on music with violent or sexually explicit lyrics. The group drew the ire of musicians ranging from Dee Snider of Twisted Sister to Frank Zappa, who said warning labels were unnecessary and a danger to freedom.

Tipper Gore later became friends with the late Zappa's wife, Gail, and played drums and sang backup on daughter Diva Zappa's album in 1999.

The Gores have four adult children, Karenna, Kristin, Sarah and Albert III.

In a letter written to then-girlfriend Tipper as a 17-year-old college freshman, Al Gore wrote: "Mother's having a fit about me riding the motorcycle back to Harvard. Dad's mad at my long hair."

Gore later held his father's former seats in the U.S. House and Senate for 16 years. He first ran for president in 1988 at age 39, but drew little support outside the South.

A subsequent bid in 1992 was derailed after the Gores' 6-year-old son almost died after being hit by a car in 1989.

"It was a very spiritual time for both of us," Tipper Gore later wrote. "In Al's case, he decided to write a book and not to run for president in 1992."

The book was "Earth in the Balance," and Al Gore ended up in the thick of the 1992 campaign anyway — as Bill Clinton's running mate.

Tipper Gore, who has acknowledged treatment for depression after Albert III's accident, is a vocal advocate on mental health issues.

It's quite sad to think of such a longstanding marriage collapsing, 40 years, I've been married for 2 and it feels like an eternity (a happy eternity, but still).

When I was in college they were always on the TV in US reports, almost like a family you grew used to seeing, and always seemed much much more sincere and together than 'Billary' - I wish em both well in whatever they move on to.

If he said that he feared for his marriage would that be "aGorephobia"?

Gore accused of being a manbearpig.
Former VP Al Gore Accused of Sexual Assault While Visiting Portland

The Portland Police Bureau has today released a statement regarding allegations of sexual assault by former Vice President Al Gore while in Portland. Vice President Gore has also been in the news recently for the unexpected divorce from his wife of 40 years, Tipper Gore.

Below is the full text of the PPB press release:

A national tabloid magazine has published a story discussing allegations made by a Portland woman against former Vice President Al Gore. The Portland Police Bureau does not generally disclose information regarding sex crimes, as they are deemed confidential. However, because of the high-profile nature of this case and the fact that the woman involved provided reports to a media outlet, we will provide the following information:

In December 2006, a local attorney contacted the Portland Police Bureau and said he had a client that wanted to report an unwanted sexual contact by Mr. Gore. This allegation stemmed from an incident on October 24, 2006, when the woman involved, a Licensed Massage Therapist, was called to a local hotel to provide a massage to Mr. Gore.

After repeated attempts by Portland Police Detectives to interview the woman involved, the Police Bureau was told by her attorney in January 2007, that they were pursuing civil litigation and declined the assistance of the Portland Police Bureau’s Detective Division. A special report was written and the case was exceptionally cleared—a standard procedure when the person involved declines to talk to police. The District Attorney’s Office was consulted during this time.

On January 6, 2009, the woman involved came to the Detective Division and explained that she would like to give a statement. On January 8, 2009, a Detective and a victim advocate assigned to the Sexual Assault Detail met with the woman. The woman read from a prepared statement and detailed the events of October 24, 2006. She reported that she was repeatedly subjected to unwanted sexual touching while in his presence.

The woman reported that she still had clothes that she had worn during the encounter. But due to the description she gave of the incident, detectives did not collect the clothes as evidence because they did not feel there was any evidentiary value to the clothing.

After interviewing the woman, the Police Bureau provided additional services per the victim advocate program. The case was not investigated any further because detectives concluded there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations.

In June 2010, the woman involved contacted Detectives and asked for a copy of her statement, which she was given. She then asked if she could edit her statement and was told she could provide detectives with additional clarifications that would be added to her original report. She also advised that she was going to take the case to the media.

The District Attorney’s Office has a copy of the reports. At this point, the Police Bureau does not consider this an ongoing investigation unless new evidence is received in this case. The Police Bureau is releasing the redacted reports concurrent with this news release. In 2007, the Police Bureau released the initial special report regarding the incident after it received a public records request by the Portland Tribune.

Going by the statements in the news report above, no way a jury can convict Gore of sexual assault. The woman refused to give a full statement to the police or help out the police until it was clear that she was not gonna go anywhere with the civil litigation and she attempted to milk the situation again by going to the police and try to get Gore.

Mudslinging at best. She's a gold digger or attention seeker. Enough said.

                An Inconvenient Truth

Golddigger and attention seeker? Gore is fully versed in that exercise.

Attempted to milk the situation? Another winner for Gore.

I can't speak for her credibility.

But here's the thing- Gore was staying at the Hotel Lucia, which is not exactly the Motel 6. It's one of the most upscale hotels in Portland. They have excellent front desk service, and if he had simply called down, they would have sent someone over from the Portland Spa. No big deal, the Lucia and Portland Spa have a partnership agreement, it's an upscale spa that complements the high level of service the Hotel is known for.

Instead, he pulls a name out of the phone book or craigslist or something, identifies himself as "Mr. Stone", and orders up a girl himself. What's that about?

I liked what the esteemed Mr. Limbaugh had to say about it.

He didn't comment on whether he thought that was any truth to the allegations. Instead he wondered how it is possible to massage a piece of wood?

Not that it will make any difference, but they have reopened the case.

Portland Police chief notes 'procedural' mistakes in 2009 handling of Gore sex-assault case

Portland Police said they decided to re-open its investigation into sexual assault allegations against former Vice President Al Gore after finding "procedural" mistakes in how the bureau handled the case in 2009.

The bureau's command-level supervisors should have reviewed the case and should have made the decision on whether the investigation should move forward when the complainant came to them last year -- the second time she went to police, Portland Police Chief Michael Reese said in a statement.

Although Portland massage therapist Molly Hagerty read a statement to detectives detailing accusations that Gore groped and kissed her during an October 2006 late-night massage at the Hotel Lucia, police never contacted Gore. In addition, detectives failed to consult with the Multnomah County district attorney's office on the matter.

Reese said the decision to reopen the case was solely the bureau's.

"It is our responsibility to both parties involved to conduct a thorough, fair and timely investigation," Reese said in his statement, adding that the bureau will not be commenting on the case during the investigation. "We ask for the public’s patience as we let the facts of the investigation guide us and ensure the integrity of the investigation. I have asked Detectives to assign appropriate resources in the interest of conducting a complete investigation in an expedited manner."

The case began in 2006 when an attorney representing Hagerty contacted Portland Police. At that time, detectives tried to meet with Hagerty on three separate occasions, but the meetings were all cancelled by her attorney. The lawyer then told detectives that Hagerty was pursuing a civil lawsuit, the police statement said. Although police consulted the District Attorney's office at that time, the case was cleared due to Hagerty's lack of cooperation.
