    by Staff Writers
    Tehran (AFP) May 9, 2010

Iranian warship the Jamaran on Sunday test-fired a home-built torpedo for the first time as part of ongoing naval war games in the Gulf, state television's website reported.
"This torpedo is anti-submarine and when it is fired from the warship, it automatically hunts for the submarine and destroys it," navy commander Arya Hassani was quoted as saying.

Hmm, I think a smarter way of saying this is its expermental since it hasnt proven anything of the sort as of yet.

*In many a case what Iran claims as "home built" should be more or less considered "reverse engineered". Since many home built projects very much reflect Western design and other designs such as their version of the US "Cobra" helo. The question is where did they get it from Russia, North Korea etc?
