I'm in. I don't buy anything from California, anyway, at least now I'll make it official

Been there, done that. I don't call it a boycott. I call it a lifestyle and I am in it for the long haul.

Nah, you wouldn't boycott it if you've ever been to Mother Lode country...and the wines are just too good to pass up... But, yeah some selective boycotting, like the S.Fran outer space community.

Were it possible to physically detach California from the USA, drag it out to the sea and sink it with all residents of the state; the air would at once seem cleaner.

and everyone else's taxes would go up.

                    Not really.

California probably spends more federal tax dollars than it contributes.

I think a quarter of all welfare recipients in Ameica are in California.

It's all Gunnut's fault as someone here mentioned before. :)

Actually, not quite. California pays in more than it takes out.

Without checking out the report, I'll take your word for it.

But that doesn't change the fact Gunnut is respnsible for all of this. :))

That list is misleading. If you look across the South you see what looks like a imbalance of the South taking in more than it pays out. However, if you subtract the highway dollars that serve the interstate commerce of the big population states and add that money to those states, then the South not California is undeserved.

                            Zraver,

Not really. It is a function of Californians pay the highest per capita federal income tax based on an overall high standard of living.

The largest single federal funds outlay to California is actually to the private sector...all those dollars going to defense and aerospace contractors....which are high paying jobs which generate more income tax.
