  • The Tea Party.......

Since there has been some discussion and some obvious misunderstanding of the TP movement, I thought it time to dedicate a central location to inform, discuss, debate it.

I used to watch David Letterman all the time, until his Bush hatred consumed him, then he lost his funny to me.

I have to give props though for a good, serious interview last night with Pam Stout of the Idaho Tea Party.

This is very informative, and representative of the majority of the kind of peple who are involved in this movement.

I doubt this lady would amount to much of a domestic terrorist or fringe nut!

For those who may think we are racists, you got some evidence to find, cause this guy ain't buyin it!!

I would encourage looking closely at this site. Every race in America is represented here.

I wouldn't sweat it 7th. Frank Rich and Krugman and the like just hate tea Partiers because they're black.

My (very broad)opinion on the TP was formed way before reading this article by Buchanan, but it happens I agree with many things he says.Others obviously will oppose this,so let the debate begin.

How about the South Carolina Tea Party speakers wondering if Lindsey Gramham is selling out his country because he's gay? What about the Speaker who talked about sending Obama back to Kenya? Till they stop having speakers spewing that shit it will be hard for me to believe their isn't a considerable racist, bigoted component mixed in with people who just want smaller government. Oh crap that's right I am on ignore because you have so much tolerance for people who believe differently than you

Good article, and covers that facet of the topic well, however, the TP is very racially diverse. What it isn't is economically diverse. The TP is made up of mainly middle class people that where content to live in the soft socialism we have had for about half a century now. This administration and congress has just went too far. We are pissed. Enough is enough.

The race card is only being played by dems who have nothing of any substance to bitch about. Thier policy, when the truth doesn't serve you, lie or make it up.

                        7th,

Have to disagree with this assessment...

I was hoping serious issues like Medicare/ SS/ Healthcare Reform/ Financial Sector Reform and so on would come up.

Instead I got stuff like Iraq, Glenn Beck and other nonsensical stuff that have zilch to do with what a tea party stands for.

I like Letterman (since I guess I am a liberal at heart) but he ruined this one. Oh well, he is just a comedian after all...

That "crap" as you call it, wasn't in here until YOU posted it, which is why you are likely on "ignore."

Oh crap now that I'm not a mod, I have an ignore button too...COOL ! :))

                            7th,

Good article, and covers that facet of the topic well, however, the TP is very racially diverse.
dude, good article? you better hope to hell that the TP is nothing like the way buchanan speaks of it. wtf is the last sentence, "White America is the house divided, for it is in the womb of white America that this new people is gestating and fighting to be born. "

buchanan seems to be a white power guy, which is not really a stretch considering he's a nazi apologist.

having been past a few of the TP rallies in DC, it does seem to skew heavily caucasian to me. but i would agree that their focus is not racist (past the kooks whom use code words to describe what they're really getting at).

however, obviously the TP has work cut out for them if they want to have the TP fairly proportional and reflective of the so-called "average american".
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."- Isaac Asimov

Haven't paid any attention to the details of this thread, but in my opinion Pat Buchanan is not someone I'd want praising me.
