I see many ,too many of them.
Only because China has tooo many of these kind of cities. and many many Chinese have digital cameras. Not like the so-called second super power.
I like you to show me the samilar propaganda photos from your contry. Photos are better to present the fact than speaking even they are selected.

If my city here in Australia was anything to be proud of, and had some remarkable buildings, isntead of old ugly buildings, I too would post images of it..
It is propaganda sir, as you are being shown only one side of the coin. People expect naiive viewers to extrapolate the images to apply to the rest of the country.
That being said, China has made remarkable progress in the building of cities, by hook or crook.

Well, obvioulsy not all of the country looks like that.
But just as we only ever see the good side of Paris, London, New York, and other world famous cities, we are now seeing the good side of Chinese cities. Why not? If you want to attract tourists, why would you show them slums and run down areas?
Obviously you would show the new, nice, exciting things.

I'm actually very much surprised why hasn't India started developing modern residential complexes. Even Pakistan is making huge complexes, modernizing urban living at relatively cheap prices too. China's a big economy, no comparison there, but India's well off too. I don't see any adverts about super cool freehold property on sale in India.
But Dubai takes the lead in all of them. If you ever see the work Dubai's doing, jaws will drop. Dubai's prepped up to look like Utopia... "Look" being the keyword.

Actually there are lots of large mega projects going on in bigger cities...for instance read about Mahindra City in Chennai with integrated housing complex and office space. Infosys is building world's largest software development center there. Same case in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Pune...you name it.
But as you said, Dubai takes the cake...damn I was there last month and $hitt it really is un-believable!! But OTOH I noticed a sense of artificiality (it was too clean to comprhend was instance :P ) in everything, let it be the beaches near Al-Burj or be the Super mega malls.A grain of wheat eclipsed the sun of Adam !!
