    Well, darn!

    http://www.vancouversun.com/Life/Int...289/story.html

Always loved the single picture of her leaning against the wall, one leg bent under, arms over head, and tongue between clenched teeth (....or was that Diane Keaton in Annie Hall mode for the teeth?).

Her press shots were something of a source for the strive to independence as a teenager.

In the modern world.....yes, it is. But one has to remember what the world was like back then. I mean, back then, a lot of those movies actually had a plot! What was an Andrea True movie to a Tori Welles movie of 1990? Lord knows what it is like now.

Her fall from the soap box was probably pretty obvious but then again, she may have spread the odds with the interracial scene ......though I have never seen that movie.

Behind the Green Door - 1972, first porn movie to gross a million dollars. Just think, in 1972, Aids/HIV didn't exist, no incurable STD's, The Pill was in fashion. Casual sex was "in" and hot and very, well casual. The porn industry had an explosion, University Avenue in St. Paul was full of XXX movie houses and book stores and believe it or not, to this day this is at least one remaining sex store. Magazines came out of the closet so to speak or perhaps in was out from under the bed. I even read playgirl back then.

The 70's for all its multi-partner - give a crap who it is - if you have the right parts you are wanted - no fatal disease sex will never happen again. I miss that, but am glad to have been part of the ride.

She later had a successful career as a director and producer. I first met her when I was invited to speak at a Professional Business Women's Networking meeting. I was subsequently invited to a party at her home. I liked her. Knowledgeable and professional, she was a a nice lady. She was friendly, charming and able to make you feel at ease. Rest in peace.

Maybe I'm from the wrong generation, but I have never understood why you would want a plot in a porn film. Bit like stopping a football game to have an orchestra play 'Carmina Burana' - enjoyable in its own right, but hardly the reason you turned up.

It probably is a thing of a generation marker. Or maybe, it's just a boy thing, girl thing.

At the very least, I'd like at least an underlying theme. It's, to me, what makes the movie fun as oppose to a bunch of people getting together to "get together". It is what makes the players of that industry just a little bit more than wonderful curves or large rods. It what makes the movie not just sex but actually a little bit of play.

It might be what brings out the other qualities of a particular cast member. Like in RainWoman 2, the late John Dough as a struggling talk show host. That man looked wonderful in a business suit, he looked wonderful as a person on the street. If I have any porn movie fantasies of what it is really about, well that is not to be talked about here, but I do have box cover fantasies and one of them is me with him doing a Pretty Woman type poster pose. Or being back to back with Christy Canyon in the style of "Good For Me" (Amy Grant, Version I).

I don't search out films with John Dough, Aja, Joey Silvera, Tori Wells, Mike Horner, Saber, Tom Byron, Nikki Randall, Randy West, Selena Steele, Marc Wallice, Stacey Donovon, Robert Bolla, Tracey Adams, Jerry Butler, Sheena Horne, Blake Palmer, Madison, Paul Thomas, Shanna McCullough, Jamie Gillis, Barbara Dare, Robert Bullock, Debi Diamond, Harry Reems, Victoria Paris, Buck Adams, Andrea True, John Leslie, and Christy Canyon ...............

..................... just because they good with their clothes off, but a lot has to do with the energy they bring to the screen, the fun.

ON THE OTHER HAND, cast members like, say, Samantha Strong and Peter North registrar practically zero with me. Peter to me, is quite 2-dimensional, a flat piece of cardboard with a big smile. He brings nothing to the movie.

And while I share a lot of qualities with Raquel, to me, her highest screen energy was when she was with Saber .............. and it really hasn't been seen since.

And Ron Jeremy? Well.........................he's in a class all by himself. He does bring the energy, he certainly is a cad, a ham, and I don't think one can be so much energy in a porn movie without getting into the action, but I'd rather remember him more for the ham scenes. Though .......... I loved how Christy Canyon seduced him in "Treasure Chest".

And that may be part of it. Some of them may just have great chemistry together.

Theme and chemistry. If it's not fun, why bother watching, having more than one movie?

                  No pun intended.

                  I'm sure.

Sorry Deb. I've been wanting to crack a joke on this thread since it started.
But I know I need to be more serious and respect the dead.

Respect the dead? Yes. Serious, well, that's difficult to say for I suppose it all depends on how one views the work they did. One should not be making fun of it and slashing it if their work was suppose to be serious but on the other hand, if there was fun in it, then perhaps not so serious.

What was it that was once said, not laugh at them but laugh with them?

Granted, when it comes to porn, how is hard not to laugh even though it might, if in the behind the scenes, have its serious side to it. One of the most ironic scenes I recall is where the "girl" was showing her "girlfriend" the toys she found in her mother's dresser.

                    "And these are your mother's????"--girlfriend
"Well, I guess so, unless my father is "funny"."...but then neither of them considers the implications of that statement as they both get it on a few seconds later.

Of course, these days, that's something of breaking the fourth wall, where the character is actually seeing the world outside their own little world. Like the serial killer master to his apprentice after she screams at him not to call her looney because that's what her ex boyfriend called her. "Well, neither of us is really playing with a full deck here."

There are many aspects to this world and for many of us, we probably only see and interpret the viewing of it......in one degree or another. Given the boy comments, it might be that boys and girls view it differently and I wonder if boys and girls can ever sit down and just watch the movie together. But given the difference in comments, I might now fully understand what a coworker was thinking when years ago, he told me that he would not be surprised if he found out I had done a blue movie.

To me, in a world that is so often wrapped up from letting people being what their personalty is, the release and the living of a porn movie, whether done in watching or in a fantasy application, is quite a rush.

Have you ever seen the film Boogie Nights?

I was in the industry for a time. This movie hits all of the relevant points.

Would you care to expand on that a little for those of us who have not seen the movie and can't afford to rush out to Hastings right now?

Care to expand what you did in the industry? I watched the film.....found it interesting but was never sure how true to life it all was.

Maybe we should have a poll about how times we watch porn per month?
