  • sub-standard journalism

NDTV 24x7, a saturation news channel which broadcasts from India, has attempted to gag a blogger in the Netherlands who expressed some concerns over the quality of NDTV live feed coverage throughout the Mumbai terrorist attacks. It will not be possible (for legal reasons) to provide links, however, the relevant information can still be sourced online, despite threats, and intimidation tactics, which NDTV have deployed in an effort to suppress free speech. The reporter who is the main subject of these criticisms, exercised no restraint during coverage of the operation to rescue hostages from the Taj Mahal Hotel, and may be responsible for releasing information which could have compromised aspects of security. These were my impressions at the time when viewing live coverage transmitted by NDTV from Mumbai. The standard of journalism was poor. There were no apparent checks and balances in place to ensure that details released live on air (which might have been helpful to the terrorists) were not edited more carefully.

And here is that NDTV 24 x 7 reporter expressing her thoughts.
