Can these charts be explained so that one can understand? I mean people like me who are not very conversant with the Electoral system.
If electoral votes are so disproportionate, then how will the light blue states tip the balance?
With the Popular vote shown so close, what is the correlation with the win percentage that is so heavily in favour of Blue?

the red states overwhelmingly vote mccain, and he gets allot of popular votes, and obama beats mccain in the blue states, but not by as large a percentage, but the blue states in general have more electoral votes (more population)
for example if Obama beats Mcain in Pennsylvania by 1 vote, then Obama gets 23 electoral votes (PA has 23 electoral votes)
but say mcain wins ohio by 200,000 votes, he still on gets 20 electoral votes
so mccain could have 199,999 more popular votes but still lose to the electoral votes.Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still

The election will be held on 04 Nov 2008.
When will the result be known?

Gunnut: put your gun away :)
Everywhere else, blue is a conservative colour, thats why many banks chose it in their trademarkes and logos. Not so here!!!
Also, red is the color of social revolution and represents the bloodletting when a revolution occurs. Here, Conservatives happily identify themselves with that color!!!"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Socialists/ commie - Red (as everywhere except America)
Hindu right wing - Saffron (the Hindu colour)
Muslim right wing - Green (the Muslim colour)
Socially disadvantaged groups like Dalits (untouchables/ low caste) - blue (not sure why)
Also, Indian spsorts teams and many of our national logos tend to favour the colour blue, even though the only blue coloured item in the Indian flag is the tiny wheel in the middle. Again, not sure why...

But how the GOP turned red was also something I wondered about for quite some time.
