  • Annual East Coast Toy Soldier Show, November 2, 2008

I want to remind all of you who enjoy toy soldiers and military modelling that we are rapidly approaching one the best events for toy soldier collectors, and military miniature enthusiasts in the US--The East Coast Toy Soldier Show & Sale, this coming November 2nd, at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Rothman Center In Hackensack, NJ.

The doors open at 9 am, and if you'll be anywhere in the area, you'll want to make plans to be there.

It's a big show with thousands of attendees. If you have never visited the show, please don't confuse or compare it to some of the small regional shows that recently cropped up. With room for over 300 eight-foot exhibitor tables in a will lit area, with wide aisles and walkways and unlimited free parking, ours is the largest show of its kind on the east coast--A trip well worth making.

It's a one day, fast paced show, with no room trading prior to the show itself. This means everyone has a chance at the good stuff.

This show is unique because many of its exhibitors only come out for this show. Many have been combing flea markets, basements and attics all year long jus to pick-up figures to sell. Many average collectors use the show as an opportunity to sell off their duplicates and excess pieces from their own collections.

And talk about exhibitors, exhibitors such as Britains, Conte, Collectors Showcase, Dutkins, Hobby Bunker, George Guerriero, Jim Hillestad's The Toy Soldier, Toy Soldier Gallery and others have donated thousands of dollars worth of door prizes to be given away hourly. As and added bonus, each and every child will receive a free plastic toy soldier of their choice.

This year's show will have at least nine new vendors, who along reserved 26 additional tables, who have never been there before along with most of the well known dealers, makers and shop owners that have been making this a great show for years.

Exhibitors will be featuring everything imaginable related to toy soldiers, from antique to new toy soldiers; military miniatures and connoisseur figures; G.I. Joes and 1/6 action figures, military toys, plus plenty of castings, videos, books and supplies. All for sale. Not just something for everyone, but a heck of a lot for everyone!

The Rothman Center is located on Temple avenue, off of Hackensack Ave., South, just a few blocks from Route 4, only six miles from the G.W. Bridge, and only minutes from the N.J. Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, Routes 17, 46 and 80. Use the official street address of 100 University Drive, Hackensack, for directions on MapQuest, or Google. General admission is $6 with children under 12 free with parents. Doors open at 9:00 a.m, and parking for 3,000 cars is free.
