  • prayers for a fallen soldier

This past weekend in Afghanistan there was a battle with 9 soldiers losing their lives, unfotunately, one of those was my son's friend Jon Bostrom. My son Brandon is currently enroute escorting Jon's body to bring him home to his parents in Hawaii, please send up some prayers for his family and for my son who is deeply saddend by this loss. They were scheduled to return to Italy in just a few weeks. My son does not have to return to Afghanistan which I am truly thankful for, however, this not the way I wanted him to get out earlier. Please keep my son, Jon's family and all who are effected by this great tragedy....Thanks for all your support! ev kennedy

My deep condolences to the family. Please do convey the same to them.

It is a sad day for you and your family for the loss of a friend, but may the Almighty give you and your son's friend's family the fortitude to bear the deep loss.

May your son's friends soul Rest in Peace.

        He died for Freedom.

Being a Soldier myself and having seen two wars, counter insurgencies and some small operations, I realise that but for people like your son's friend, others would not be able to live in Peace. It is for a Noble Cause he died in a heroic way.

I had the good fortune to be able to chat with my son today. He's in Baqubah, Iraq. One of the other scouts that he'd met back in Germany (they came over together, but seperated in Iraq) was killed a couple of days ago.

It hit him hard; that's the first time it had happened to him. He's re-thinking his Army career right now, and I think he may get out when his enlistment is up.

It was great to chat with him, but I can tell he's changing. This put a mark on him.

All my best to your son, and to ALL of 'em Over There. I hope I and my people can do better at helping them, and you may be assured that we're as motivated as we can ever be to avenge the losses, and prevent any further loss. I love my brothers-in-arms, and they're why I keep going to work at a job I love.

First Lieutenant Jon Brostram, report immediately to Heaven and take command of the Pearly Gates Guardpost.
