I looked on a South African board running the same software running blue. The blue is nice but it makes borders colors I don't care for.

Do you computery type guys ever consider doing things like colour matches? Talking to some who does design?;) :))

I'm horrible myself. I tweaked a color scheme I saw elsewhere. Trying to get an idea of what members like to pass to BadKharma. :)

I like it but a more metallic slightly lighter blue for the forum, with this dark blue for the title banner would also look nice.

It's a got a very polished feel and look - a classy colour.

I have one complaint.

On the blue scheme, the lines that make up the grid are too solid. I like the faint lines in the red scheme. Other than this, I like the blue scheme.

I prefer the old style, for what that's worth.

Okay, now that I've clicked around a few times I REALLY hate the blue.

Bring back the red please.

I agree. I like the blue scheme but the grids are too solid! Breaks up the page too much.

What did you think of the WAB Blue2 colour scheme?..(green) go to the bottom of the screen and choose your preferred colour

Of the three choices currently available I prefer WAB Light.

I prefer the current scheme, I haven't seen any other boards like it. The WAB Blue reminds of a couple of other boards...

I do get tired of the same old color. The blue reminds me of the ancient VBulletin Board.

Why don't you implement a feature that allows the members to choose their own colors when viewing the forum? That way you can accommodate everyone's wishes.

There is no function to allow members to select colors, only templates.

WAB "Green" (http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/?styleid=34) is a rather gung-ho Army look... some people may like that though I doubt the majority would. ;)

Blue is a bit more easy on these old eyes than the red.

gunnut
25 Jan 08,, 22:37
I like the green. It has the lighter grid lines and easier on the eyes than red. I think I have very sensitive eyes. Bright colors bother me. My optomitrist told me I should have very good vision in the dark.

I don't think I care for the blue with the brown...and there's a big red box at the top of the page...I think there are a lot of colors happening with this scheme.

I also don't care for the green - it is a little too earthy and armyish.

What about some pink? Maybe a touch of lavender.

Actually blue and beige / tan can work together but you have to make sure all the gray is are replaced. I am actually making a style right now I gave a working title of nautica to that uses Blues and beiges with wood.

Settle on your favourite primary colours (i.e. the blue/green/red banners). Once you've done that I'll give you a list of RGB values of other secondary colours that will match the ones you've selected. No pink though, I refuse to do the pink unless I get protection money.

The darker backgrounds are definitely a winner. anything between 90% to 95% of full luminance as background is good. I'm leaning toward the blue as my favourite primary at the moment.

I think tan / beige and red goes well together. However I would try to replace anything left that is silver with a gold or bronze.

A bit easier on the eyes, what with the most of the "white" softened. :)

I hava a question. If I make an animated gif of a revolving globe ala the still Ironduke put top left, could you use it? If so, what resolution, frame rate, file size etc?

I wouldn't want to use it. I believe it would be unattractive, distracting, and use too much bandwidth. Four banners with four globe positions that alternate, for example, North Atlantic, Europe, Middle East/South Asia, and East Asia with relevant photos at right would be a far better idea.

BadKharma
28 Jan 08,, 18:05
I would have to agree with Ironduke. Generally most animations are annoying and or distracting. As a general rule of thumb for you however anything viewed on a computer screen only needs a resolution of 72 dpi. Higher resolutions are used for printing. File sizes you always want to keep as small as you possibly can. In a gif this can be accomplished by lowering the number of colors used in the output. The problem is gif's have a lower quality for images which is why I generally try to use shockwave (flash ) files when I make anything animated.
