There are some strange stories that one keeps hearing. Like a young kid in a village start speaking American accented English suddenly without any education and this being attributed to reincarnation. I guess this incident was reported in a UP village a few months back. I guess most of such things are made up and die their natural death.
Hindu religion does believe in reincarnation. I think the idea is that you are struck with the cycle of life and death till you manage to get out of it by pleasing God.There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don’t..

Buddhism has samara (the wheel of life, or the process of being reborn over and over). As long as we are generating karma, we continue to be reborn to go through the karma we have generated. This keeps on until we are able to "use up" all our karma and achieve nirvana.
Basically, it is believed that we are here until we get it right and reap the actions of all our past lives and then we get to stop being reborn. Pretty much...earth is our hell. :) :P"To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are."-Sholem Asch
"I always turn to the sports page first, which records people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures."-Earl Warren
"I didn't intend for this to take on a political tone. I'm just here for the drugs."-Nancy Reagan, when asked a political question at a "Just Say No" rally
"He no play-a da game, he no make-a da rules."-Earl Butz, on the Pope's attitude toward birth control

We don't want to leave our loved ones and head off to the great unknown, so we make up something to give us some comfort.
Are any of these afterlife concepts real or possible? I don't know. But I know I can't prove that they are not real.
The comedian George Carlin did offer a simple proof that argues reincarnation is not real. There are way more people now than ever before. We can't possibly have that many souls to inhabit all these new bodies. So someone has been printing up souls..."Only Nixon can go to China." -- Old Vulcan proverb.

Originally posted by Officer of Engineers View PostWell, no. Dimensions (as in distance in whatever direction you want to point) did not exist before the Big Bang. From that point on, space expanded. It's a hard mathematical concept to grasp but essentially we have zero space at the point of the Big Bang. That's how the math works.
