  • MPAA on the rampage

all righty then this goes out to all who use torrents and heck anyone who enjoys privacy on the web!
as you may have heard the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) has filed a law suit against torrentspy and various other torrent sites Torrentspy.com - The Largest Bit Torrent Search Engine
this seems to be in line with their efforts to rid the world of freedoms and regulate P2P
in their lawsuit the MPAA won a court order to force all P2P sites to track users IP and what they search for and download along with various other criteria TorrentSpy ordered to start tracking visitors | CNET News.com MPAA has even gone so far as to hire hackers to go after torrentspy and people who work there http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6076665.html
with the MPAA massive lobby they were even able to kill a bill in california protecting users privacy MPAA Kills Anti-Pretexting Bill
this worries me because how soon will it be before companies are able to strip away our rights in the name of profits
now im not advocating piracy because thievery isnt protected under the constitution
but i certainly dont want to give MPAA and other companies the power to get away with hiring hackers and attacking our freedoms

So much for free music via P2P, so it seems. Break out the CD-burners and the Ipod rippers!
